Free stop smoking support

There are several ways to get help with quitting smoking, by contacting our team or organising help yourself. You can:

Stop Smoking Support Team

If you use stop smoking aids alongside support to change your behaviour and habits, you can double your chances of quitting for good.

Our friendly community-based Stop Smoking team offers expert advice and personalised care to help you quit smoking and achieve lasting health improvements.

The team can also provide 12 weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in the form of:

  • patches
  • lozenges
  • vapes

NRT gives your body lower amounts of nicotine, but without the dangerous chemicals in cigarettes. They help you deal with cravings and withdrawal symptoms while you’re quitting smoking.

Contact the team

You can contact the service yourself - you do not need a referral from a doctor.

Our Smoke-Free ambition

We have an ambitious target for the area to become ‘smoke-free’ by 2030.

This means we aim to support around 10,000 more residents to stop smoking, so the number of smokers is reduced to just 5% of the population. The figure is currently 11%.

Our Stop Smoking team will also focus on preventing young people from starting to smoke.

The funding for our Stop Smoking support comes from ring-fenced Government funds. It's specifically aimed at reducing health inequalities and smoking in England.
